Meet the Expat: Aga
From Erasmus student to entrepreneur: 'Aga's Almería Journey'.
I'm a freelance journalist from Poland, from the small town of Samociążek. In 2019, I was working as an editor at the national news TVN24 in Warsaw and decided to start a study of Spanish Philology.
After a year and during the pandemic, I was already an Erasmus student at the University of Almería. I came here because I wanted a break from the hustle and bustle of the big city and the stress of corporate work. Initially, I studied and continued to work remotely for television.
I fell in love with Almeria, it was love at first sight! So I decided to stay, quit my corporate job and start working on my own.
Today, I choose topics, travel around Spain and publish my reportages on Polish TVN, the weekly Tygodnik Powszechny, the radio programme 'Raport o stanie świata' and Euronews. However, I always return to Almería and here, overlooking the beach, I finish my material.
In my work, I try to speak and show the beauty of Almería to encourage tourists to visit this place, a little forgotten but undeniably beautiful.
Almeria made me start living more slowly and appreciate the small things. I discovered peace here, a passion for dance, met wonderful people, dared to fight for my dreams and started writing a book about Andalusia.
If anyone would like to check out what I'm doing, collaborate with me, or tell me about an interesting topic then feel free to contact me! You can find me on Instagram.
